The water of the falls is smoked from the rocks without being seen. Hence it is named Hogenakkal. Dharampuri, also known by the name Kaveri, is a waterfall located at a distance of 40 km from the town and about 150 km from Bangalore.
The best way to get there is to reach Hogenakkal from Bangalore via Hosur, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri. Local vehicles are available from Dharmapuri if rent or own vehicles are not available. Buses are available from Bangalore to Hosur and Dharmapuri. Best time to visit this waterfall is during the rainy season and after. On this occasion, the river Cauvery is filled with water and the sight is breathtaking.. However, the place can be visited at all times, not just in the rainy season. You can enjoy the ride of the rafting n the water, especially during the summer. It is usually not available in the rainy season.
