Attiveri Bird Santuary : Attiveri was declared as a bird santuary on 17th August 2000. It lies around the Attiveri reservoir and spans across 2.23 SqKm. It was formed as a result of the construction of a dam across Tayavvanahalla river in the village of Attiveri. This reservoir which was plenty in aquatic life attracts many birds, especially aquatic species, and was therefore developed as bird santuary. The agricultural fields around the santuary are full of aquatic creatures, which are a major source of food for the bird life of about 79 species, including migratory birds from 22 countries.
